Both our Columbus mayoral candidates attended, unfortunately I was the only one of three Columbus City Council candidates there. Scott served as a police officer for 21 years in a variety of roles such as an award winning K9 Handler, SWAT Team member, DARE Officer, Patrol Officer, Lead Background Investigator, Mounted Patrol Trainer, Mobile Field Force Team Leader, and Technology Unit Officer.
Empowering the youth of Columbus and surrounding communities by serving as a Community Education volunteer basketball coach, volunteer youth football coach, former board member with the Forest Lake Youth Football League and League Director for the National Flag Football League. As a canine handler and DARE Officer, Scott and his K9 partners spent time at many youth programs.
Scott currently serves on the Columbus Planning Commission. He does his research and seeks knowledge about agenda items. Scott participates in the meetings regularly. He is also a member of the Ramsey County Business Advisory Board for hazardous waste generators. In the past Scott was appointed to the Columbus Public Works Advisory Board - Road Paving Sub-committee. Scott's record demonstrates he knows how to bring in sustainable business in proper zoning districts and understands the risks to tax increment financing (TIF) districts. Scott s a former business owner with his wife Michelle who operated out of their Columbus home and believes in responsible home occupied businesses.
There is no political or personal agenda for Scott other than a call to community service from a young age. He listened to the recent concerns that 60% of Minnesota voters have about the integrity of elections and supported the city council's efforts to act proactively on election integrity.
